My approach is straightforward and compassionate. I understand that the greatest challenge in life is to follow our dreams – and I also know that through facing this challenge we experience the greatest joy.

No two clients are the same – I don’t use any one coaching strategy – whatever approach is most effective for my client is the one I use. Below are some general steps that I go through with every client.


STEP 1: DEFINE YOUR GOAL

This is where you imagine where you want to be and envision yourself there. What does it feel like to reach your goal? You may already have a clear vision of your goal, or it may take a session or two to fully develop – it all depends on where you are. Either place is a perfect starting point.

Coaching is all about looking forward and creating your future as you would like it to be – starting right now.  Just like planning a road trip, the first step is to clearly define your destination. Which roads you take to get there and where you take rest stops are completely flexible and can change at any time with no impact on your destination.

STEP 2: EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES

There are a thousand different, successful paths between where you are today and where you want to be. When you run into a road block – and you will, more than once - we simply explore new options from your current vantage point.  Would you cancel the rest of your road trip if you found the road you’re travelling on closed for construction?  Of course not.  Nor would you sit there and say, “Well, they’ll be done next month, so I’ll just wait.”  You would pull over for a few minutes, plan a new route and before you know it you’d be back on your way. 

STEP 3: ACTIONS WHICH CHALLENGE AND INSPIRE

Each session will leave you with 1-3 action items, custom-designed during our session, which you will complete before our next session.  These tasks are always doable – but always provide a challenge. They’re designed to build you into a stronger, more confident version of you: the person you will be once you reach your goal.

STEP 4: ACCOUNTABILITY

You want to be held accountable to the commitments you’ve made during your coaching sessions.  Why? Because coaching is one of the few places in your life where it really is all about you. Following through with these action items is you fulfilling your commitment to yourself and your goal. Accountability is one of the most valuable aspects of coaching because it keeps you moving forward.  The good news is that the mini- goals and action items created during your sessions are designed by you, for you – so they aren’t so easy to ‘not do’.  And if you don’t follow through with an assignment, there is a deep well of insight and knowledge to be found there as well.

STEP 5: REACH YOUR GOAL

You will reach your goals when you work with me. This isn’t something I’m willing to compromise and is one of the reasons I am so successful at what I do. My passion is to see people achieve what they want in life.  I will push you. I will tell it like it is – and we will probably ruffle a feather or two – but you will reach your goal. And in coaching – it is all about results.
